Canada Post Strike: What It Means for Your Shipments

On September 25, 2025, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) declared a nationwide strike, halting most of Canada Post’s operations. For many Canadians — from small businesses to everyday shippers — the disruption adds yet another layer of uncertainty in already unstable times.

What’s Happening with Canada Post

The federal government has proposed several changes to Canada Post’s operating model, including phasing out some door-to-door delivery, adjusting service standards, and reviewing the status of certain rural or low-volume post offices.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has opposed these measures, and on September 25, 2025, initiated a nationwide strike. As a result, Canada Post has suspended most new shipments, and deliveries already in progress are expected to face delays.

Reliable Alternatives Are Still Available

Fortunately, other carriers remain fully operational and ready to support your shipping needs:

  • UPS & Purolator: Stable domestic and cross-border delivery.
  • FedEx & DHL: Secure and efficient international shipping.
  • netParcel’s platform makes it easy to select these alternatives without interrupting your workflow.

While the Canada Post strike creates further uncertainty, businesses and individuals don’t have to put shipments on hold. With trusted carriers like UPS, Purolator, FedEx, and DHL continuing to operate, deliveries can keep moving despite the disruption.
