To help solve this, we’re introducing netParcel’s Duties & Taxes Calculator to our Shopify merchants—a new tool that provides clear estimates of the duties and taxes your U.S.-bound shipments may face.

Customers in your Shopify checkout will now be presented with a clear total cost (shipping and duties/taxes), providing customers and merchants alike with greater peace of mind amid today’s uncertainty at the border. Please see below:
Why it matters
For Canadian merchants, building trust with U.S. customers is critical. Setting clear expectations around cost helps minimize delivery delays, prevent refused shipments, and reduce returns. With this tool, you can make smarter shipping decisions and keep your business competitive in today’s cross-border marketplace.
As part of this process, end customers will be sent an email similar to the one shown below, presenting the estimated landing cost and ensuring complete transparency throughout the process.
Getting started
If you’re a Shopify user integrated with netParcel, the Duties & Taxes Calculator is already available to you. Simply enable it in your account to start estimating duties and taxes on your U.S. shipments. Please see the instructions below!
- Log in to your netParcel account, and click the “Welcome,” drop-down (Green Highlight)
- Navigate to “Settings”
- Set “Shopify | Add Estimated Duties & Taxes at Checkout” to Yes (Yellow Highlight)
- Click “Save Settings“
