netParcel Tips for Ships

We prioritize providing a smooth, cost-efficient shipping process for each shipment (and customer) we support. Please review the following for some tricks of the trade!

Do

  • Take advantage of significantly discounted rates from our multiple carrier partners!
  • Familiarize yourself with each carrier’s terms and conditions (shippers risk items, packaging guidelines, for example), as these are the ‘golden rules.’
    • For example, UPS’s packaging guidelines are here.
  • Pack your merchandise/shipment safely; your parcel’s journey is not gentle!
    • Internal packaging is extremely important in ensuring the safe passage of your product(s).
    • A general rule of thumb is, if you wouldn’t drop your packed shipment from eye-level without fear of breakage, don’t ship it!
  • Measure and weigh your parcels accurately. If in doubt, round up!
    • Remember, the dimensions printed on your box are generally internal dimensions and not what the carrier will capture during the parcel audit.
    • We suggest using only whole numbers in your measurements and weights. If you have a dimension or weight with a fraction/decimal value, round up to the next whole number!
    • We always suggest taking photos of the dimensions and weight in case a dispute needs to be filed!
  • Make use of insurance to ship your merchandise with peace of mind!

Don’t

  • Don’t ship in non-standard packaging such as Rubbermaid bins, suitcases or cylindrical tubes
    • These packaging types are prone to adjustments and denied claims as they fall outside of the carrier’s terms and conditions.
  • Avoid the use of excessive tape or strapping.
  • Never ship goods without adequate internal packaging
  • Don’t forget that we are here to help!
