The U.S. Postal Service has filed a notice to update pricing and adjust several service offerings, pending approval by the Postal Regulatory Commission. The changes take effect July 12, 2026.
Here’s what matters if you ship with USPS through netParcel.
1. Dimensional (DIM) Weight Is Changing
This is the update most likely to affect your costs. For Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, USPS Ground Advantage, and Parcel Select:
- The DIM divisor drops from 166 to 139 — meaning higher dimensional weight for the same-sized package.
- Decimals now round up. A DIM weight of 12.3 used to round to 12; it will now round to 13.
What to do: If you ship lightweight but bulky items, review your packaging. Right-sizing boxes is the easiest way to offset the impact.
2. Ground Advantage
USPS is eliminating ounce-based rate differentiation for published Commercial USPS Ground Advantage prices. Because netParcel customers ship using negotiated commercial rates, this change won’t affect you.
Other Updates
- PO Box prices are going up 3%.
- A new Addresses API is launching to validate and correct addresses for a fee — useful for high-volume shippers looking to reduce failed deliveries.
Quick Prep Checklist
- – Review packaging sizes ahead of the DIM weight change
- – Audit your catalogue for any HAZMAT items and confirm proper preparation
- – Recalculate estimates for lightweight, larger parcels to find the best service
