UPS Spring Surge Fees: What netParcel Customers Need to Know

UPS Spring Surge Fees: What netParcel Customers Need to Know

Starting April 5th through July 4th, UPS is implementing temporary Spring Surge Fees on irregular shipments. Here’s a quick breakdown of what’s changing and what you need to do to avoid surprises at checkout.

What Are Spring Surge Fees?

UPS applies seasonal surcharges during high-demand periods to manage capacity across their network. This spring, surcharges apply to packages classified as irregular shipments — those with non-standard dimensions or weights. These charges are in addition to your regular shipping rates.

What This Means for You

These fees are automatically reflected through the netParcel API — so the rates you see at the time of shipping will already include any applicable surcharges. The key action item on your end is simple:

Always enter accurate package dimensions!

Correct length, width, height, and weight must be entered at the time of shipping. Inaccurate dimensions may result in unexpected charges after the fact.
