Faster Shipping to Vancouver and Calgary with UPS

Shipping to customers in Vancouver or Calgary just got faster. UPS has upgraded its ground network into both cities, so eligible packages from Eastern Canada can now arrive one or two days sooner, and shipments from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) can now be delivered on Saturdays.

Here’s what’s changing, how it affects your delivery dates, and how to compare shipping rates to Vancouver and Calgary with netParcel.

What’s new for shipping to Vancouver and Calgary

  • Faster ground delivery: Eligible shipments from most of Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada can arrive one to two days earlier, depending on where and when you ship.
  • Saturday in the network: UPS now moves packages through its network on Saturdays, which pulls many delivery dates forward.
  • Saturday delivery from the GTA: Eligible GTA shipments can now be delivered on Saturday in Vancouver and Calgary.

Toronto to Vancouver: ship Tuesday, deliver Saturday

The clearest example is the GTA-to-Vancouver lane. A package picked up on a Tuesday used to arrive the following Monday. Under the enhanced schedule, it can now arrive that Saturday, which means two fewer days for your customer to wait.

FridayThursday (next week)Wednesday (next week)
Based on UPS’s published GTA-to-Vancouver example for eligible shipments. Delivery dates vary by postal code and shipping date.

The published transit time on this lane is still four business days. The earlier arrival comes from UPS counting Saturday as a working day in its network, not from a change to the business-day estimate.

Saturday delivery: residential vs. commercial

For eligible GTA shipments into Vancouver and Calgary, how Saturday delivery works depends on the address type:

  • Residential addresses: UPS Standard Saturday delivery is included automatically where available, at no extra charge.
  • Commercial addresses: Saturday delivery is optional and carries an additional charge. Contact netParcel support if you need it for a business shipment.

Keep in mind that Saturday transit isn’t the same as Saturday delivery. Shipping from Montreal to Vancouver, for example, Tuesday-through-Friday pickups now arrive sooner thanks to the Saturday network, but Saturday ground delivery isn’t offered on that lane.

Why this matters for your business

If you sell to customers in Western Canada, faster ground delivery can close the gap with pricier express services. In many cases, a ground option may now hit the delivery date you need for less. It’s a good time to review which service you use for orders headed west, especially for mid-week shipments.
